History

The roots of our company reach way back into the past. It all began in 1904 when the entrepreneur J. A. Siegel began with the manufacture of wooden folding rules. The nearby forests of the Pohorje area provided a plentiful supply of raw material.

In 1936, Tovarna meril began the production of spirit levels, an activity which to this day represents the company’s leading production line. After World War II, the enterprise extended its product range to encompass metal and plastic rules.

In 1972, a new organisation called Slovenijales Tovarna meril Slovenj Gradec was created. In 1979, it became an independent manufacturer of metal rules and measuring tools.In 1996, the firmtransformedtothe status of joint-stock company - TOVARNA MERIL KOVINE D.D. and is today successfully continuing its production of the wide product program of high-quality measuring tools.
